Client Teams: A Look At Current Practices (2009)
As the economy slows, it becomes obvious that attending to your best clients becomes even more critical. If you don’t have formal client teams in place to serve key clients, now would be a good time to start. However, we know that setting up effective client teams has been a challenge for many law firms and to the best of our knowledge, no one has yet to research what might constitute current practices with respect to basic issues like how many client teams to have, what expenses need to be budgeted for, how much time needs to be invested, and what some of the more common internal barriers have been. That said, a few months back we initiated a survey to which 93 law firms kindly responded in detail to 16 specific questions. Here is what we learned.
